A Walk on the Wild Side: Apprenticing to Baba Yaga

Facilitator: Sharon

In each of us is the witch.  She is the ancient one, the wise one, the collected conscious and unconscious knowledge of the lineage of the witches.  She is Baba Yaga, and we would know our own spiritual power will apprentice to her.  Join us for an opportunity to explore this path.  The workshop will be story telling, teaching, ritual and discussion.  How deep and how much of each depends on us.  We make the workshop what it is.  Join me as we share time sitting at Baba Yaga's feet.

Who We Are:

Ben Starr is the mead maker for Starrlight Mead in Pittsboro. Ben has won several awards for his meads, including Best in Show at the International Mead Festival. Ben teaches mead making often, including at Beekeeping associations and several Spring Quests.

Becky Starr is an eclectic pagan and has been a Priestess of Isis for over 10 years. In the Pagan world, she finds herself a frequent workshop and ritual leader for Celebrate the Circle, the CUUPS chapter of Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Hillsborough, and at events for Carolina Spirit Quest. Becky is a past President and Vice President on the Board of Trustees for CSQ. She is the owner of Starrlight Mead, a newly opened honey winery in Pittsboro, NC, with her husband Ben.

Violet Grimm has lived in North Carolina for most of her life, since the age of 4. She grew up in the back woods area, where she spent most of her time among trees and wildlife. Violet learned about paganism at age 13, and practiced mostly solitary, but she occasionally rides her broom out of the closet to join in community fun like Winter Quest and Spring Quest. She lives with 3 cats, 1 Betta named Captain Sassy Britches, her best friend, her husband and a whole lot of books. Violet is an arts and crafts witch, always wanting to dish up some hocus-pocus with her hands.

Dick Merritt, a retired professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association, led massage workshops for many years. Dick grew into paganism through the influence of eco-feminist spirituality in the 80's. It was a natural fit, given his agrarian background. He is an eclectic neo-pagan and Unitarian Universalist. Dick characterizes himself as a Joseph Campbell pagan because of his conviction that religion is metaphor. Strongly influenced by the Creation Spirituality movement, he describes himself as a panentheist. He enjoys frequent rituals and purification ceremonies. A techno-pagan, he is a retired UNIX technician.

Manbo Sky Bradshaw  is a full time spiritual advisor who was initiated into the Vodou tradition by Manbo Sallie Ann Glassman, of NOLA's and Houngan Edgar Jean-Louis, of Haiti in May of 2007. Reading Tarot, interpreting dreams,  speaking to the ancestors, performing cleansings, holding workshops, and many other gifts to the community is Sky's way to give back and stay focused in a positive way. She also facilitates a Spiritual house in the Triad area.

My name is Tysha Dill and I became a Reiki Master Teacher in March of 2010. I have been studying and practicing Reiki since then.

Trance is a UU pagan, third degree priestess, and second degree ReiKi practitioner living in the Triangle/Triad area.
