CSQ - Spring 2008 Rituals

Rituals

As Spring Quest is a family event, children are welcome at all rituals. No special dress is required for the rituals, although many people do enjoy dressing up in their favorite ritual attire.

Opening Ritual

In our Opening Ritual Friday evening, we will be creating sacred space and presenting the faces that each of us wear. There is no specific dress requirement for this ritual. You may come in any attire of your choosing - family friendly, please

Spæ, Friday 8:30 PM - Until

Iðavelli Hof's Seiðr Group invites you to a special Spæ session we are presenting on Friday evening for CSQ. Spæ is the Old Norse term for an oracular practice in which a Seer answers questions and/or speaks the future for the community. The rite of Spæ gives one an opportunity to better understand the context of the choices one faces. We have found that the more important the question, the clearer the answer is likely to be. Questions about the future or the past may be asked; similarly, one may ask after ancestors or the recently departed. Please dress comfortably for the season and bring a chair and some water to drink during the rite. Children are welcome to attend with their families (and ask questions), but will need to be able to sit through a meditative ritual.

Main Ritual

In the Opening Ritual and in the Spæ rite we had the opportunity to gain insights into the face we have carried. In the Main Ritual on Saturday evening we will begin creating the face we wish to go forward with in our lives. There is no specific dress requirement for this ritual. You may come in any attire of your choosing – family friendly, please.

Closing Ritual

In the Closing Ritual Sunday afternoon, we will be saying goodbye to the space we have created and preparing to carry each new face into our communities. There is no specific dress requirement for this ritual. You may come in any attire of your choosing - family friendly, please.
