[CSQ-News] CSQ Learning Circle Teacher Takes Gold
Recently at the International Mead Association's Mead Festival in
Boulder, CO; Ben and Becky Starr took a gold medal for their Starrlight
Spiced Apple Cyser beating out 14 other entries in the Cyser category
(mead made with apples). The Cyser then went on to take Best in Show out
of 212 entries in 9 different categories. This was the first year the
IMA sponsored the home mead maker competition along side its commercial
competition. www.meadfest.com
What does this mean to you?
Ben will be teaching not one, but two, mead making classes at this
year's Spring Quest. The beginning mead making class, “Fun with Honey
and Yeast,” will teach the basics of mead making from agitation to
racking, and include take home recipes, techniques and a “must” that
will be ready to turn into your own yummy mead.
Ben will also teach a second class, “Merry Mead Again”. This class will
look at intermediate mead making techniques, including chemicals to
improve your mead, melomels (mead with fruit) and metheglins (mead with
herbs or spices). Everyone that participates will take home a mixed
berry “must” that will eventually become a wonderful berry melomel.
To register for Spring Quest, sign up for Ben's great mead making
classes and participate in the Magical Auction where Ben will be
donating not only a complete mead making kit, but lessons taught at your
home (within reasonable distance from the triangle), sign on to
www.CarolinaSpiritQuest.org and click on Spring Quest 2006!!
We hope to see you there!
